Dear Student:

On behalf of the Union College Bookstore, welcome to Union! The bookstore is excited
to present our college laptop program for 2009. We’ve designed a program that incorporates
the best hardware, warranties, and service offered in the marketplace today.

We offer laptops from the two vendors with the highest ratings in customer satisfaction
and technical support: Apple and Lenovo/IBM. Apple’s hardware and software engineering
are world class, and their design has become legendary. Lenovo/IBM’s Thinkpad series, while
less known in the consumer market, is the gold standard in the business enterprise market for
their classic looks, highest-quality parts and engineering, and ability to withstand damage that
would cripple lesser machines.

The Apple laptops come with a 3 year accidental damage warranty offered by CBE
Technologies, the largest independent technology provider in New England. The Lenovo/IBM
laptops come with a 4 year accidental damage warranty offered by IBM. All warranty work is
administered by us, through our Apple and Lenovo certified technician, Dave Vrooman. You’ll
never have to waste time on the phone with tech support: just bring your laptop into the
bookstore, and if Dave or I can’t complete your repair within 48 hours, we’ll loan you a laptop
until your computer is returned to you.

By electing to participate in the laptop program, while you are at Union College:

● your computer will get priority treatment over any non-program service we provide.
● if your computer has a problem, we will first try to repair it ourselves, and if we can’t
we will act as an intermediary with the warranty provider.
● we will not charge any labor fees for any in-warranty computer work.
● you will receive discounted pricing for non-warranted work.
